Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter - STABILISED CURLY BIRCH

Description

The Casström Safari Mini Hunter, despite its robust design, is a very light and compact knife that you can easily carry with you.

It has an ingenious handle design with a tapered tang that makes the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter very nicely balanced and comfortable to hold.

The design of the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter combined with the materials used makes this a very nice but also resilient tool.

The Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter is ideal as a small skinner or knife for preparing food.

About the design:

"The original idea was to design a hunter's knife with minimal dimensions that would still be efficient to use.

Initially, it was for the bulk of British deer hunters who hunted the smaller species such as roe and muntjac.

However, the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter was picked up by others, such as Swedish hunter Jeppe Stridh, as an ideal cutting tool for his country's elk hunters in combination with a forest axe.

Further research has shown it to be a suitable and popular compact knife for people on safari, hence the name Safari Mini Hunter.

In short, the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter is an easy-to-carry tool that can be used to eviscerate and skin base skin to protect the trophy while still far from the tool in the car. " / Alan Wood

Brief on the version with stainless steel:

Ingeniously designed handle of the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter made of Stabilised Curly birch with a polished finish.
Sturdy sheath made of vegetable-tanned European leather with drain hole.
Swedish stainless steel 14C28N from Sandvik. The blade, which has had a special cryogenic treatment, stays sharp for a very long time.
Full flat grindin combination with the steel properties make the Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter a great knife, effective for multiple tasks and easy to sharpen. Combined with an axe or one of our larger knives, you have everything you need.

All Casström knives are cryogenically quenched. Cryogenic hardening is a treatment process in which the steel is cooled to very cold temperatures using nitrogen gas. This improves the performance of the steel at the molecular level and in practice gives the blade more wear resistance and makes it less prone to crumbling compared to a blade of the same hardness that is not cryogenically quenched.

About Sandvik 14C28N blade steel

Optimised chemistry creates a high-quality knife steel with a unique combination of excellent cutting performance (stability and retention of sharpness), high hardness and good corrosion resistance. Sandvik 14c28N is a very good steel for knives because of its composition, purity and power, but has a very fine cut. However, it tends to be softer than ideal with conventional heat treatment routines. Casström adds a cryogenic treatment cycle at sub-zero temperatures with the use of liquid nitrogen after quenching to harden the blades and improve steel structure. The process results in a blade that has a higher hardness than a conventionally hardened blade and maintains a better cut for longer by optimising the potential of the Sandvik 14c28n steel. When cryogenically treated, Sandvik 14C28N is probably the most balanced stainless steel available for bushcraft knives and offers high wear resistance and great stain resistance.

Casström proudly develops outdoor equipment in Sweden with an individual style of solid craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Casstrom Safari Mini Hunter is produced entirely in Europe and comes with a 25-year warranty.
